BACK HOME…

It was so great to see many of you while I was back in the states. I saw old friends and met some new ones and I’m glad you’re all along for more stories from Cambodia because there’s so much to share.

In the video below I share some fun stories and updates from the ICF Community Campus. While Covid is still making things very challenging for us we’re still busy doing great things and there really is a lot to celebrate. I also wanted to share with you a little bit about a class I recently taught to give you an idea of some of the work I’m doing here in addition to my job as Head of Digital Marketing for ICF Cambodia. Like I said, there’s so much to share that it’s hard to get it all in one, I’ll just have to do another newsletter very soon 🤗. THAT’S A GOOD QUESTION

One morning I woke up with a question in my head.

"When you look back on your time in Cambodia 20 years from now, what will you have been glad you spent your time on?" 

This was no doubt, a prompting from the Holy Spirit. I didn’t immediately have the answer to this question but I knew I needed to spend some time with it. The truth is, after a while, you settle in to the same rhythms and schedules (and bad habits) you had “back home”. I was beginning to sense that I was doing the same things over and over again, get up, go to work, home for a tv show or out to dinner and very little variation in between. So this question really convicted me, I knew I had more time to give and I wanted to figure out where that should be spent to make the most impact here in Cambodia while I can.

Well, God did reveal this to me and I want to share the story with you.

My First Discover Class

Every Wednesday night we host Discover Classes. These are 8 week courses designed to help people grow personally and spiritually. During our last term I taught a class all about growing in your relationship with God. 

This class was something that was on my heart over a year ago and we had planned to offer it then but I kept putting it off. I knew it would be a big commitment and to be honest, I was just nervous. So a year went by…😳

Then one day my friend Panha who manages all of our Discover classes asked me for the 4th time "Will you teach next semester?" And for the 4th time I said let me think about it 🙈. On my drive home that night the question I had just heard 2 days before came to me again

"When you look back on your time in Cambodia 20 years from now, what will you have been glad you spent your time on?" 

I immediately realized it was this class. Preparing these lessons and teaching the people here how they can grow in their faith was absolutely something I will be glad I spent my time on. I was in. And what a blessing it was. My students were so eager to learn more each week and as we shared how they applied what we had learned the week before I was humbled by their awe and wonder at what they were experiencing. I have no doubt that this was where I was supposed to be and I know there are more opportunities to come.

Prayer Needs:
- Pray that we can begin meeting in person for church and social activities on the campus with the kids.
- Pray for the government of Cambodia to allow tourists back into the country without the current $2000 deposit. We desperately need tourists (so come visit soon 😉, once that deposit is lifted, of course).
- Pray for me - next month I’ll be preaching my first message and I’m just a tiny 😳bit nervous.
